TLI Welcomes Four Incoming Board Members and Thanks Four Outgoing Members

The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (TLI) has announced changes to its Board of Directors. The organization welcomes four distinguished incoming members and thanks the outgoing members for their invaluable contributions.

"TLI stands at a moment of transition and opportunity. On behalf of the Institute, I extend a heartfelt welcome to our four incoming members who bring their unique vision and dedication,” said Dr. Mitchel Sayare, Chair of the TLI Board of Directors. “As we move forward toward our strategic objectives, we look back with appreciation to our departing members for the support they provided. Together, our current and incoming members will continue to transform the biomedical research landscape for a healthier world."

Welcoming Incoming Board Members

TLI proudly welcomes Hortense Allison and Elliot Hinds as its newest Board of Directors members, as well as Melanie Lundquist and Marianne Gausche-Hill, MD, who are rejoining the Board. Each brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to advancing medical research and healthcare.

Melanie brings her extensive experience in philanthropy and deep commitment to healthcare innovation. Her return to the Board is a homecoming that promises to energize the Institute's vision and further positively impact TLI.

Marianne Gausche-Hill serves as TLI’s Interim Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Gausche-Hill is the immediate past Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency and is nationally and internationally known for her work as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and pediatric emergency medicine researcher, educator, and leader.

Hortense Allison, Vice President and Head of Regulatory Digital at Bayer AG, a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, brings a seasoned perspective on the healthcare regulatory landscape and how digital solutions shape preventive healthcare's future and support clinicians in diagnostic decision-making. 

Elliot Hinds, a partner in the Corporate Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin, an international law firm headquartered in Los Angeles, is a respected attorney with expertise in corporate law and governance. His insights and experience will be invaluable in guiding TLI through its next phase of growth and development.

Thanking Our Departing Members

The Institute also takes this opportunity to thank Dr. David Heber, Nate Kirtman, Sam Tarica, and Carl Dickerson for their service on the Board of Directors. The Institute is grateful for their leadership and support.
