Research Description

Dr. Mason has had an eclectic career including the disciplines of pulmonary nuclear medicine, pathology, infectious disease and cardiopulmonary interactions. He has published major papers regarding pulmonary epithelial permeability in smokers, PCP pneumonia, the distinction of lung injury in cardiogenic and non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema, and developed methodology for background correction. His clinical work includes being a TB consultant (in hospitals, zoos and the healthcare worker), acute lung injury. Most recently, with JM Criley, he founded PulSentry, a company focused upon detection and monitoring of cardiac tamponade.
