LOS ANGELES (Nov. 13, 2012) – Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is a progressive disease of the lungs that affects approximately 24 million people in the United States and is now the third leading cause of death in this country.  For those who suffer from severe COPD, shortness of breath and other symptoms can make it difficult to perform simple tasks such as doing light housework, taking a walk, or even getting dressed.
